Tutorial: Agentic AI Foundations Course
Welcome to this hands-on tutorial where we will build a real-world Banking Agentic AI Platform using modern agentic frameworks, large language models (LLMs), orchestration tools, and enterprise-grade integration patterns.
In this journey, you will learn how enterprises design, build, deploy, and govern autonomous AI agents that can reason, plan, collaborate, and act on behalf of users or systems—all within the context of banking and financial services.
The concepts covered in this tutorial are applicable across industries, including:
- Banking & Finance
- Insurance
- Healthcare
- Retail
- Telecommunications
- Supply Chain
However, all examples, exercises, and the capstone project will be based on a simplified Banking Agentic AI Platform (BAAP) that handles customer interactions, fraud detection, loan processing, and advisory services.
About this Tutorial
The primary goal of this tutorial is to help you learn Agentic AI by building a realistic enterprise application rather than studying theoretical concepts in isolation.
Throughout the tutorial, we will incrementally develop a Banking Agentic AI Platform that exposes agentic capabilities for:
- Customer Service Agents – handle inquiries, account management, and issue resolution
- Fraud Detection Agents – monitor transactions, flag anomalies, and initiate investigations
- Loan Processing Agents – gather documents, assess risk, and approve/reject loans
- Financial Advisory Agents – provide personalized investment recommendations
- Compliance Agents – ensure regulatory adherence and generate audit trails
- Orchestrator Agents – coordinate between specialized agents to complete complex workflows
Each chapter introduces new concepts while enhancing the same application. This approach mirrors how enterprise AI systems evolve in real-world organizations—starting with a simple agent and gradually adding complexity, multi-agent collaboration, memory, tool use, and governance.
What You Will Learn
This tutorial is carefully designed to take you from fundamental agentic concepts to enterprise-grade, production-ready multi-agent systems.

Learning Approach
This tutorial follows a practical and incremental approach.
Each chapter contains:
- Concept explanation
- Architecture discussion
- Step-by-step implementation
- Code examples (Python, using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or similar)
- Best practices and common pitfalls
- Hands-on exercises
- Interview questions
We strongly follow the principle:
👉 Learning by Building
Instead of creating isolated examples, every chapter contributes to the same enterprise application—the Banking Agentic AI Platform.
What We Are Building
We will build a Banking Agentic AI Platform that uses autonomous agents to handle various banking operations.
A simplified version of the system will support:
Customer Service Agent
- Handle customer queries about account balances, transactions, and products
- Escalate complex issues to human agents
- Update customer profiles
Fraud Detection Agent
- Monitor transaction streams in real time
- Flag suspicious patterns using rules and ML
- Initiate alerts and block transactions when needed
- Collaborate with compliance agents for reporting
Loan Processing Agent
- Collect required documents from customers
- Perform credit scoring and risk assessment
- Make approval/rejection decisions (with human override)
- Generate loan offers
Financial Advisory Agent
- Analyze customer portfolios and risk appetite
- Suggest investment strategies
- Provide market insights
Orchestrator Agent
- Accept high-level user requests (e.g., "I want to apply for a loan")
- Break down the request into subtasks
- Delegate to appropriate specialized agents
- Aggregate results and present to the user
Sample Business Scenario
Consider the following banking customer interaction:
Customer: "I want to apply for a personal loan of $25,000."
Orchestrator Agent:
- Identifies the intent: loan application
- Decomposes into subtasks:
1. Verify customer identity
2. Fetch customer financial profile
3. Assess credit risk
4. Generate loan offer
- Delegates to: Customer Service Agent (identity check), Fraud Detection Agent (profile check), Loan Processing Agent (risk and offer)
- Aggregates results and presents a final offer to the customer.
If the customer accepts, the system initiates the loan disbursement workflow.
Throughout the tutorial, we will implement such interactions, step by step, adding more sophistication and reliability.
Target Architecture
By the end of this tutorial, our solution will evolve from:
Simple single-agent chatbot
